Last week, Melbourne deathcore deviants Gravemind released their corrosive new single, “The Death Of Teyolia”. Showing no mercy to those adverse to all-out heaviness, the sextet’s latest is a gory, grimy sub-four-minute scorcher, pillared with crushing riffs and piercing gutturals.

It’s also shows the band’s conceptual eye, telling the story of Teyolia: an Aztec woman who finds herself on a journey of demonic revenge after her lover is torn from her arms by enemy tribesmen. A comic-esque lyric video (which you can suss out below) was released alongside the single – it dishes out the crux of the story, adding grandiose scenery and developed characters to the outfit’s intricate conceptual vision.

Of course, a track this killer – with a story this massive – begs for more. Much more. So, Gravemind have whipped up a stunning 15-page digital comic to expand Teyolia’s story, written by vocalist Dylan Gillies-Parsons alongside collaborators Ren Tu (colours) and Shen Lim (inks).

Ahead of its official release tomorrow, the band have given us an exclusive first peek of the comic. Suss out the download link below, then chuck on some headphones, crank up the volume and dive into a visual experience unlike any other.

Oh, and for those itching to get their Aztec mosh on, you’re in luck: Gravemind are hitting the road this October with fellow scene slayers I Shall Devour and To The Grave, hitting Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne for five life-changing celebrations of sweat, shred and violence. Get on it!
