Deftones Reach Peak Hipster; Now Have Their Own IPA

Of all the trends for rock music to embrace, we’re really glad it’s the beer one that’s catching on.

Stacks of bands have jumped onto the bandwagon (*beerwagon) in recent times – just last week, for example, ya good mates in Violent Soho teamed up with Stone & Wood to launch their own pilot brew.

Cali art metallers Deftones have now joined the party, teaming up with the San Diego-based Belching Beaver brewery to whip up their own brew by the name of ‘Phantom Bride’. The 7.1% ABV (shit yeah) concoction is labeled a West Coast style India Pale Ale, and according to a press release, is brewed using a mixture of handpicked hops selected by the band’s own Chino Moreno.

The beer goes on sale this coming Monday in the States – no plans have been announced to ship the sip Down Under, but look, if we all start abusing the Dan Murphy’s customer support service fiercely enough…

“Phantom Bride” is also the name of Deftones’ newest single, the cut plucked from their acclaimed eighth album, Gore. You’ll be able to catch the quintet smashing the jam out live – amongst many, many other choice picks – when they reach Australian shores this November. Touring alongside Karnivool and Voyager, the band will hit Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Suss a stream of “Phantom Bride” (and its namesake beer) below!
