Crown The Empire Stream New Track “Weight Of The World”

crown the empire 2016

Just in case you weren’t already aware, Texas post-hardcore crew Crown The Empire are gearing up to release their new record, Retrograde, in about a week. Ahead of the unleashing of their forthcoming album, they’re streaming a new track titled “Weight Of The World” – while it isn’t as heavy as you’d expect, it’s still a total jam. We promise.

Frontman Andy Leo described the tune as about “living under the unblinking eyes and scrutiny of social media”. But that doesn’t just apply to users with followers exceeding triple digits: “whether you are in a band, a public figure or just a kid trying to belong. It’s about feeling the pressure of trying to please EVERYONE all the time, but only to not please anyone at all”.

Retrograde counts as the outfit’s third full-length album, and is a follow-up to 2014’s The Resistance: Rise Of The Runaways. That release saw CTE hit up our shores with an appearance at Soundwave Festival last year. If you caught them then, you’ve probably already got your fingers crossed that LP#3 sees them come back for another visit. We’re right there with you.

Retrograde is out July 22 via Rise/Warner.
