Fresh Fruit: The Sign Of Four
The Sign Of Four
What other names did you consider calling yourselves?
We had a few ideas floating around – we rolled with Bury Us, Bury Us before we took things a little more seriously and changed the lineup, genre and name to The Sign Of Four.
Where are you from and what would be the most recognisable local landmark?
We are from Newcastle, and the most recognisable landmark is definitely the big dick tower that overlooks the harbour.
Who is in your band, what do they play and what is their non-musical superpower?
Danny – vocals, and getting astral.
Scott – bass, and doom-dropping into the cosmic realm.
Jarred – drums, and transforming into a jerrycan.
Lee – guitar, and smoking darts.
Lloyd – guitar, and sobriety.
Name your three biggest influences.
Black Tongue, Villains, and Rex.
What’s the usual first topic of conversation when you take a break at rehearsal?
Usually it’s upcoming shows and preparation/travel, etc. Band practice is usually the time to discuss the serious shit and business side of the band, being completely self-managed.
What’s your pre-show warm-up routine?
Honestly, just relaxing, eating a good meal or two, and a buttload of eaugbays.
What band would you most like to share the stage with and why?
Black Tongue – we supported them when they played in Newcastle last year, but the sound blew out and we couldn’t start for 15 minutes. It would be sick to do it again and play more than three songs!
What’s the most exciting album you’ve listened to recently?
Yüth Forever – Skeleton Youth Forever
What is your latest release and why should we buy it?
Sick Of Being. Released in January, it’s our first full length album. It’s got loads of grooves, breakdowns, intense guitar leads, down-tuning, and tonnes of catchy lyrics to scream your heart out to.
If you could be endorsed by one company, who would it be?
Why are you going to make it to the top over all the other contenders in the musical arena?
It’s not about making it to the top, we just want to play breakdowns every week. If that lands us a larger audience at our shows and more places to go, that’s what being on top means to us. Also, we are about to drop the most fire mixtape we’ve ever written.
Other than Dave Grohl, who has the best beard in rock?
Rob Zombie, of course.
