Fresh Fruit: Split Feed
What other names did you consider calling yourselves?
Banquo or Cherry Bliss. Pretty sure there are a couple of Cherry Bliss tracks somewhere within the internet.
Where are you from and what would be the most recognisable local landmark?
We’re from Newcastle, with the ever-so-recognisable landmark on the foreshore: The ‘dick tower’.
Who is in your band, what do they play and what is their non-musical superpower?
Joe Willis – vocals/bass: circus games (eg. diabolo)
Will St Claire – guitar: self-diagnosed OCD.
Brad Mclean – drums: bogging his car.
Name your three biggest influences.
Violent Soho, Luca Brasi, and Simpsons Shitposting.
What’s the usual first topic of conversation when you take a break at rehearsal?
Simpsons references, or complaining about how hot the room is.
What’s your pre-show warm-up routine?
Couple’a shoeys and losing $10 on Where’s The Gold.
Tell us about your most memorable show.
There’s been, like, two times that we’ve played to about three people which were pretty funny. Or when we supported As It Is and With Confidence, we opened up the night and as soon as the doors opened, the place packed up – that was cool to watch. Or when we supported The Bennies and The Hard Aches; that was fun too.
What band would you most like to share the stage with and why?
U2 at ANZ Stadium. Jks. Probably Luca Brasi or Dinosaur Pile-Up at the moment. They seem like a bunch of top blokes, it would be rad to share a beer with them.
What’s the most exciting album you’ve listened to recently?
Luca Brasi – If This Is All We’re Going To Be. Every song is a belter.
What is your latest release and why should we buy it?
“Lucky People”. You should all go buy it (or download for free off the interwebs) because we need money to make new songs and make us slightly happy.
If you could be endorsed by one company, who would it be?
Red Rock Deli chips.
Why are you going to make it to the top over all the other contenders in the musical arena?
Organisational skills and our ability to cook.
Other than Dave Grohl, who has the best beard in rock?
All members of The Beards. Duh.
