What other names did you consider calling yourselves?
Glacier Veins was the name of the project when Malia was playing solo, so the name was set by the time we became a full band.

Where are you from and what would be the most recognisable local landmark?
We’re from Portland, USA. Voodoo Doughnuts is probably the popular place for tourists, but we never go there. [#1 on my list of spots to hit when I’m in the States next (soz) – Ed.]

Who is in your band, what do they play and what is their non-musical superpower?
Jonah plays drums, and is an animal whisperer.
Levi plays bass, and has the super ability to climb anything.
Malia plays guitar and sings, and she has a super 3-pointer on the b-ball court.
Joshen plays guitar, and he has a plethora of useless skills.

Name your three biggest influences.
Adventures, Title Fight, and Balance & Composure.

What’s the usual first topic of conversation when you take a break at rehearsal?
Ice cream.

What’s your pre-show warm-up routine?
We like to sing along to music in the van on the way to shows to get hyped.

Tell us about your most memorable show.
Playing the Vans Warped Tour in Portland this summer was super sweet. It was a really fun day in general, but the coolest part was seeing our friends singing and moving around up front, and getting the chance to play for people who haven’t seen us before.

What band would you most like to share the stage with and why?
Any of the bands that we listed as influences. They’re all really great bands that we connect with, so it would be amazing to be able to play with them.

What’s the most exciting album you’ve listened to recently?
We haven’t heard the whole thing yet, but we are all extremely excited for the release of Trophy Eyes’ Chemical Miracle.

What is your latest release and why should we buy it?
Clear Your Head is an EP we released in June. You probably should just download it from our Bandcamp!

If you could be endorsed by one company, who would it be?
Morningstar. Frozen veggie burgers for all.

Why are you going to make it to the top over all the other contenders in the musical arena?
We have this stuffed whale named Wally – we made him an Instagram (@wallythetourwhale) and he went on tour with us. He took pictures with the people/places we saw and posted them on his account. We’d tell people about him during our set, and afterwards, people would ask to take pictures with him. So yeah, Wally’s probably gonna do it for us.

Other than Dave Grohl, who has the best beard in rock?
We’re gonna modify this question! The best mustache goes to our friend Forest, who plays in Sundressed.

Wrap your ears around a live session of Glacier Veins’ “Different Faces” below!
