What other names did you consider calling yourselves?
The Bruce Campbells was our ‘working title’ name, but it stopped being funny pretty quickly.

Where are you from and what would be the most recognisable local landmark?
Most of us currently reside in Brunswick. Nick and I are originally from Mulgrave – which is out in the South-East – where the main landmark would probably be Waverley Park. Fun fact: David Bowie once did a concert there.

Who is in your band, what do they play and what is their non-musical superpower?
The band consists of myself (Dave), Heather and Nick. Nick’s superpower is the ability to fall asleep anywhere, and Heather’s is the ability to successfully build Ikea furniture. My superpower is being able to click with all my fingers.

Name your three biggest influences.
Dude bros being jerks, Sonic Youth, and Nancy Sinatra.

What’s the usual first topic of conversation when you take a break at rehearsal?
Usually Nick talking about video games, followed by Heather expressing her disinterest in the conversation.

What’s your pre-show warm-up routine?
Making sure our setlists all say the same thing.

Tell us about your most memorable show.
When we launched one of our latest singles, “Alphabetti Spaghetti”, my guitar stopped working about halfway through the set. After frantically unplugging everything and switching guitars, I said something along the lines of, “It’s working again!” and everyone cheered, so it was nice to know the crowd was on my side.

What band would you most like to share the stage with and why?
The full Top Twelve of the original 2003 Australian Idol finalists. Mostly just to take some selfies with Nollsy.

What’s the most exciting album you’ve listened to recently?
Neo by So Pitted is on high rotation at the moment. It’s just the right kind of unhinged experimental noise.

What is your latest release and why should we buy it?
Our latest release is a double A-side we put out through Listen Records. You should buy it because we culled down five songs into just two, so you know it’s in the absolute top percentile of quality. Also, we need to eat.

If you could be endorsed by one company, who would it be?
Twisties. Or whoever makes Twisties.

Why are you going to make it to the top over all the other contenders in the musical arena?
I don’t like to think of music as a competition. All we want to do is have lots of people like our music, and be able to keep on making it.

Other than Dave Grohl, who has the best beard in rock?
Wayne Static (R.I.P.).
