BLUNT TV: Violent Soho Reflect On The Success Of WACO
In recent years one of the country’s greatest musical success stories has come in the form of a scrappy bunch of blokes with a DIY aesthetic and a penchant for garage rock. It seems the rest of Oz has a penchant for it too, with Violent Soho soaring to #1 on the charts with their latest full-length, WACO.
We’d say there isn’t a sweeter feeling, but the Mansfield boys went and one-upped themselves by selling out a whopping 10-date tour across the country with likeminded souls DZ Deathrays, Dune Rats and The Gooch Palms. It’s not the first time they’ve managed it, either.
No longer a best-kept secret (you may have seen the band recently grace the cover of Rolling Stone Australia) we thought it was high time we checked in on the four-piece to see how they’re handling the nationwide praise after more than a decade of life on the road.
At an uncomfortably early hour, we met up with the (mildly hungover) Soho fellas at Frankie’s Pizza in Sydney to play pinball and discuss the success of WACO, as well as making a go of it as a full-time touring band and how fatherhood has impacted their lives.
